Real quick for my Bay Area peeps- I’m leading a workshop in SF tomorrow evening. Would love to see you there!

Hello!

I’ve been noticing a theme in my conversations with friends, my own mentors, and with my clients, and I wanted to share with you what we’ve been exploring on the topic of self-care and action.

During the holiday season, it’s important to take time for ourselves and to reconnect with our deeper needs. It’s critical to keep bringing the focus back to what’s really important, despite the barrage of shopping ads and holiday planning to-do lists. This personal reflection time is important, but especially so during heightened times of stress like the holidays.

That said, I’ve found that I sometimes use my own need for self-care as an excuse to stop working on my business, to skip that workshop, or cancel that meeting with a potential client. The truth is, sometimes what we need when we’re feeling a little tired and want to hide away from it all is ACTION. Sometimes you just need to take a small step to remind you of your commitment to yourself, and to the good you want to create in the world.

Nine times out of ten, if I just TAKE THE ACTION, instead of canceling or rescheduling, I find that I indeed DID have the time for it, and on top of that, I feel more confident and energized because I have stepped into my own power. And of course it feels good to be ahead instead of behind.

Today my coach reminded me that a lot of people slow down around the holidays, but that this is an important time for me to keep moving forward. And at the same time that I’m moving forward in my business, I’m also giving myself more evenings alone to relax and unwind, prioritizing exercise every day, and stocking my fridge with healthy food to keep me going when my schedule feels packed. This kind of balance takes planning, effort and commitment, but it’s worth it to know that I’m taking care of myself and moving forward with my business at the same time.

So now I want to hear from you.

What small step can you take to keep moving forward and creating the career or business you truly desire?

Where have you used self-care as an excuse and possibly missed opportunities?

What can you do to create more balance?

As always I thank you for letting me share my thoughts, and I so appreciate hearing from you in the comments.

Sending lots of love!

Emily
