Seriously! I’m surprised how few coaches, independent consultants, and freelancers let people know they are available on a regular basis!
Here’s what to do:
Send a bcc email or a newsletter out to trusted friends and colleagues letting them know what you have to offer and the type of people/organizations/companies you like working with, AND how you help them. As an example, my email might say something like, “I’m a business coach that helps emerging entrepreneurs build lucrative businesses and lifestyles they love.”
Share a success story from a current or former client. Include the testimonials page on your website. Don’t have this? It’s okay! Just share how you help people!
Include a call to action. Ask people to email or call you with any of their ideas or contacts, and offer to buy lunch or coffee for anyone that may want to speak with you to learn more about your services. Set up 30 minute phone calls with people you can’t meet in person.
Schedule 5 phone or live meet-ups with people each week over the next 30 days to share more about what you offer. State clearly how you can help them if it feels like a fit- don’t be shy! Speak with confidence and lay out for them how your services might solve their problem or fill their need.
Follow-up with everyone you meet! Regardless of the outcome of any conversation, follow up within 24 hours of your meeting with a thank you. If they have shown interest in what you offered, set a follow up time to discuss the specifics. Let them know you would greatly appreciate any introductions or referrals.
I’ve used this strategy and literally gotten clients within hours of hitting “send.” I often joke that in my first business I had the WORST most embarrassing website, ugly business cards, and zero marketing whatsoever. Yet, I still had a successful business because I reached out to my contacts exactly as I’ve outlined for you here.
Let me know if you’re going to take this challenge on and I’d love to reconnect with you after 30 days! Feeling like you need more support to make this happen? Reply to this email and let me know you want to make this a reality for you.
I hope this was helpful! Now get down to it and start drafting that email!
Go get that client! 😉
