Recently I’ve been thinking a lot about potential. Your potential to make a huge difference in your business, and similarly for myself. At this point in my life, most of my friends are also entrepreneurs, and I’ve surrounded myself with people who most would think of as successful- and they definitely are by our culture’s definitions (running profitable businesses, generally healthy and happy, living well, etc).
At the same time, when I look at everyone around me, I still feel like they’re all playing small. Meaning even with all of their successes, I still could see them influencing wayyyyy more people and making a bigger difference.
There’s something I’ve been kind of obsessing over and I wanted to get your thoughts on it. I think that we are playing small in tiny moments, consistently, in our businesses. Let me give you an example…
Just now in the private FB group for my mastermind, one of my clients was asking for guidance on how often to promote her workshop she has coming up. Another client commented something along the lines of “as often as you’re comfortable with.”
I chimed in to suggest that my client promote MORE than she was comfortable with, and she made a joke about how “damn I’m good” becuase I’m so attuned to catching my clients in these moments where they want to hold back.
And as I’ve started paying more attention to these small moments, what I’m realizing is that this is not the exception, this is the NORM.
Most of us are making choices in our businesses -without even realizing it-, that are keeping us playing a smaller game, which ultimately reduces the impact we are having in the world.
I’m curious how you’d describe your experience with this because I’m wondering if you’re aware you’re doing it and if it’s something you desire to shift.
I know I catch myself wanting to play small A LOT….. and luckily I have an amazing support network that can call me out.
Would you be open to sharing your experience of this with me? All you need to do is comment below and share your thoughts!! I’d really appreciate it! What I’m really wondering is- are you aware that you do this (before or maybe this email gave you a new insight), and is this something you’d like to shift in yourself and in how you operate in your business?
I’m looking forward to hearing what you have to say!
xoxo,
Emily
