Right now I’m sitting out at a lovely cafe in Bali, jamming on my laptop with a new friend. Last night we had dinner (she’s an entrepreneur, too) and talked about something that I wanted to share with you. It’s something I think you need to know if you haven’t heard it quite this way before.
What I want to share is how I see the difference between using intution, manifesting, and following strategic step-by-step coaching.
Here’s what I really believe is the perfect recipe for a self-expressed, creative, and PROFITABLE business.
Spend the first 1-2 years following 95%+ of your coach’s direction. (I’m giving you rebels 5% to play with here ha ha!) The most simple way to state this is to do everything they freaking ask you to do. Follow the coaching even when you don’t fully understand it (of course you can ask!), or even when you feel like you might have a “better” idea. If you’re working with someone who knows their stuff, you can trust that what they’re teaching you has worked and proven results for others (always a great thing to ask about when shopping for a coach!)
Once you have proven that you truly, reliably, with confidence, know how to get clients and make money, THEN you can get wayyyyyyy more creative with your strategies and let your intuition guide you in new and interesting directions. I’m super woo-woo, love card readings, crystals, believe in angels and all that stuff, and here’s what I know– I’ve never seen anyone grow a LEGIT LEGIT LEGIT business using creativity and intuition ALONE. My most creative dear friend who is a creativity coach, does the most cool things in her business, and she’s rocking it….. AND….. she had a super solid base of strategy, an honest to god foundation that she had to learn and put in place BEFORE she could become profitable.
I think it’s a shame that most of the coaches I see on social media talking about creativity and intution in business, who are doing well (making 6 figures and beyond) are typically not also talking about what they had to do to build a strategic foundation, where they actually were trained properly in sales and marketing. They didn’t come out the gate making decisions based on whatever showed up in their meditations.
They have BLENDED the strategy with the intution.
So I wanted to let you in on that in case you think it has to be one way or the other– it definitely does not……
But what I CAN tell you, is that you can’t do the creative stuff without the strategic foundation. Business is business; whether you’ve got feathers in your hair and crystals around your neck (raises hand!), or not, business takes structure, and systems, order, and being strategic.
There’s just no way around it.
The good news is, all of this stuff can be learned, which is why I asked you a few weeks ago what your biggest challenge is right now in your business. Once I’m back in the states I’ll be rolling out some free trainings for you specifically on where you’re struggling.
Did you miss the chance to take the survey? If so, email hello@emilyutter.com and let Heather know that you want me to know what you’re stuck with and she’ll set you up. It was a quick two questions and will mean that you get on the list to receive the free trainings.
Of course, you’re also welcome to hit reply and let me know what you think of this, or questions you have.
I want you to be a successful badass and there’s some really easy ways to get you on the fast track to doing so.
When you learn the right balance (for you) of the strategy and the woo, that’s when the cool stuff reallllllly starts to happen. But you gotta build on a foundation, so that’s what I’m going to help you with!
Let’s rock this thang out!
xoxo,
Emily
