I had an AWESOME breakfast this morning with my friend John, a super successful business strategist who I met at a biz conference in Thailand.
I wanted to share it with you because one of the things we talked about is the importance of surrounding yourself with people who inspire you, who are doing the things you want to do, and living the life you want to live.
I know this may sound crazy, but John was telling me about his most recent business goal, which is to generate a million dollars of revenue in 6 months. Since he started working on this project on Saturday (yes, just a few days ago), he has generated $140,000 in sales from ONE client. (Mind you this is just one of his side projects.)
If your brain just exploded, grab a towel to wipe that sh*t up, and come back because I want to pull this all the way through to what could be a huge A-HA moment for you.
John was inspired to do this crazy project, partially because he had just been hanging out with Gary Vaynerchuck (Who runs a $60 million biz if you don’t know who he is), and Robert Herjavec (from the TV show Shark Tank). What he told me he learned from these guys was that he wasn’t actually THINKING BIG ENOUGH.
There is insane value in surrounding yourself with people who think bigger than you do, and who are crazy committed, because it actually shows you what’s possible. That’s why when John invited me for breakfast I said yes, even though it meant waking up early and squeezing it in before my morning call. It’s because I know the value of building a relationship with someone like John. Every time we meet, he gives me some nugget that helps me grow my business and shift my thinking into a more powerful place.
So why am I telling you this?
It’s because I think you may be stuck in a pattern where you are not thinking big enough, and limiting what’s possible for you. And it’s not surprising, because most people don’t think big enough– we’re culturally conditioned to think the status quo is what we should be aiming for, but I think if you were satisfied with the status quo, that you wouldn’t be here. Am I right?
So here’s an offer I want to make to you…I want to invite you to consider joining my 2016 Mastermind (which has already started, by the way, so the time to jump in is NOW), which is full of people like you, who are committed to growing their businesses and changing their lives THIS YEAR. It’s a group of go getters who are saying they want to do whatever it takes. THESE are the big thinkings who are letting go of old patterns and stories that have kept them stuck.
When you think about who you are surrounded with right now, do you find that you have a bunch of entrepreneurs around you who are kicking butt and making stuff happen, or do you find that most of the people around you think you’re a bit cray cray, and may even be encouraging you to get a job?
If you don’t have the right community and support around you, growing a business is going to be very, very hard, it just is. You know right now if you are unwilling to have things look like this in January 2017.
You have the opportunity to be like my new client Apryl, who just closed a new client yesterday. She shared this in our FB group yesterday:
#brag!!!!!!! – signed my first official client under Emily Utter guidance!!!! Second ever paying client, 3 month contract to start. I am giddy staring at the money now sitting in my bank account. I’m pinching myself and can’t believe this is happening. I have been doing complimentary sessions using Emily’s script from her sales webinar over the last month – I’ve gotten really comfortable using it to the point where I am starting to memorize it. Still need to work on closing the sale more efficiently, but hey, not so bad 12 days into 2016, right? WEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!
Surrounding yourself with the right people (not to mention the right mentors!) IS your key to success. So you can ask your friends for advice (you know, the ones who are also struggling to make $$$), or you can get yourself into a community of people who have said YES to themselves this year.
