Hey again…
It’s funny. My posts always comes out on Wednesdays, and often, I know exactly what I want to talk about because it is something that has been on my mind. Today I was feeling a little stumped. I wondered, “Will it come to me if I make a cup of tea?” or, “Should I walk around the block?”
I realized that what I was doing was asking myself what would open up my intuition and give me that spark of an idea (because I knew starting at the screen wouldn’t give it to me.) Then it hit me- I knew I wanted to share one of the ways I get in touch with my intuition with YOU!
It’s SIMPLE. It will take some time investment to practice and hone this skill, but the action itself is SIMPLE. Let me explain…
A month ago I was making a big decision that literally had me feeling sick every morning when I woke up- it was awful. But the truth is– it was created in my mind- the stress- the anxiety- the fear of making a “wrong” or “bad” decision.
One of the most powerful things for me in dealing with my indecision has been listening to my body’s inner wisdom. Decisions are not made best through the mind. There we can get trapped with figuring out, calculating, and the dreaded pros and cons (which I gave up making those lists years ago by the way).
Do you want to know what actually helps making a decision? The simple act I’m referring to? GET. QUIET.
Lay down somewhere comfortable, alone, free from distractions. Close your eyes. Start to scan your body and notice any sensations. Tune in. When you feel yourself start to relax, ask the question you have been pondering. See what comes up. You might hear a phrase, see a picture in your mind’s eye, or feel a bodily sensation that will give you a clue.
Sometimes you can practice feeling one decision or outcome versus another. Notice how your body reacts to each choice.
I’ll be honest– sometimes no answer will come. That just means you’re not ready to make the decision yet. There may be something else you need to do first. That decision I was making that made me sick? When I got quiet, I learned that there was someone I needed to talk to first to fully understand what the right move was for me. It wasn’t about getting someone else’s opinion, it was about getting more information so that I could make a decision from full understanding. Do you see the difference?
So get quiet the next time your stomach is in knots over a decision. Take the time to be with you and let your intuition guide you. As a friend once told me, “All you have to do is listen.”
It sounds simple, but we are busy, tech addicted people. We’re on our cell phones, facebook, email, many of us most of the day. So it’s no surprise we can’t make decisions. We haven’t set up a whole lot of time to be with our intuition. So try it out. Take your time with it and don’t have big expectations at first. Know that it’s a skill that will just keep building. Have fun with it! And please- let me know what happens!
Sending love love love!
